Marcus Smart has to find a way to stop Steph Curry.
Should be a great series.
Looking back at Game 7 between the Heat and Celtics, I thought Jimmy Butler’s pull-up 3 in transition down the stretch was a good shot. Miami was down 2 with :18 to play when Butler had some space and let it fly.
The late John MacLeod once said, “the most critical are the least knowledgeable.”
I totally agree.
These days it seems like the world is filled with critics.
Everywhere you turn someone is pointing the finger, placing blame or gossiping about someone.
In sports, if someone does poorly, the pundits are all over them. This is a big reason I stopped listening to sports talk radio.
Have to admit, there was a time I was cynical, I like to think I have improved in this area. I am always trying to get better, be more compassionate. Show empathy.
Where and when did criticism begin?
Doesn’t anyone have anything nice to say anymore?
How about trying to help someone instead of kicking them when they’re down?
When I coached high school basketball, my teams were very successful. My last season we were 15-2 and in first place in our conference.
I was still criticized.
The angry, cowardly mob came at me left and right; players, parents and administration. There was even a coach at the lower level talking behind my back trying to make me look bad. (He wanted my job, tried really hard to get it. When I was hired he applied, was turned down.)
When you get hired as a varsity coach and the JV or freshman coach applied and didn’t get it, don’t keep them on staff. It’s backfired against me twice.
That’s all in the rear-view mirror though, I don’t allow it to bug me any longer.
It pains me when I hear about it today. We can’t let the critics get to us. They’re clowns. Put your head down and keep working. Don’t allow negative talk from people disrupt you. Let them talk. Let it go. They’re miserable. Unhappy with their lives.
Being liked by everyone is impossible; it just doesn’t happen. In a role of leadership, you’ll have your haters. Leadership is lonely.
Wish it would get better but sadly it’s getting worse.
Don’t allow negative people to take away your positive energy.
Next time you want to criticize a coach or a player or even a teacher in school, stop yourself. It does no good. Next time you are with someone and they begin to criticize someone, shut them down. That crap can suck you in.
The outstanding author J.R. Moehringer once said, “life is all a matter of choosing which voices to tune in and which to tune out.”
Check out these numbers from the conference finals. (Last night the Warriors eliminated the Mavericks, 4-1) Each team has played 5 games. The Celtics lead Miami 3 games to 2 with game 6 tonight in Boston.
Miami went to Boston Saturday night and beat the Celtics, 109-103 to take a 2-1 lead in the eastern conference finals.
Bam Adebayo with the “Basketball Digest: The Game I Will Never Forget.” 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists. Do you see the way the big man handles the ball? Kids, work on your dribbling.
PJ Tucker chipped in with 17 and Max Strus had 16.
Victor Oladipo, who did not play in the first half started the third quarter in place of Jimmy Butler who was injured. Oladipo played a very good second half, especially on the defensive end. ABC analyst Jeff Van Gundy said…“Instead of sulking, pouting, ill prepared to play, he’s come in and been a major factor defensively.”
Jaylen Brown led the way for Boston with 40 points.
Boston had 23 turnovers, Miami with 8.
Celtics attempted 30 free-throws, Heat 14.
Game 4 is Monday night.
Tonight is game 3 in the western conference finals. Golden State looking to take a 3-0 lead. 9:00 PM tip.
Congrats to Vince Baldwin. He’s been hired by the New York Knicks as a talent evaluator.
Great quote from Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra on what he learned from Pat Riley.
“Professionalism. Your attention to detail has to be at such a high level that you start to build very good habits early. Commitment to discipline, hard work, those qualities you learn pretty quickly when you work for him.”
Tonight is game 3 of the eastern conference finals. Series is tied at one as the Celtics go home after splitting in Miami.
Golden State Warriors are up 2-0 on the Mavericks. They travel to Dallas for game 3 tomorrow night.
During the Warriors-Mavs game Reggie Miller said, “the game has become soft.”
Bob Cousy responded to JJ Redick’s “firemen and plumbers” comment.
“People with less talent will always try to make a name for themselves by criticizing other people and hopefully getting some attention and perhaps increasing their credibility.”
