The increasingly important roles of Schmidt and Marotti are part of a booming trend in college football. Marotti makes about $300,000 a year at Florida as the head of a five-man staff that focuses primarily on football. Oklahoma’s Schmidt makes $232,000 per year and is one of three strength and conditioning employees who work with the football team.
