LEADER OR WHINER?

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  This morning in my e-mail ‘inbox’ I received a great message from Dan Mulhern and his awesome newsletter/website ‘Reading for Leading’ (click here).

The topic?

Leader or Whiner?

The question/topic stimulated the brain.

Often times you will see people whine. I think it’s natural and difficult to control. (I’m working on it each day) When you get right down to it, children whine more than adults (I think?).  We can all agree the behavior is from childhood.  It’s not getting what you want; whether you are correct or wrong. You see it on the playground often. You see it during recess at school and of course you see it when an athlete is going through a tough time.

You see people in the supermarket whine when the checkout person is a bit slower than normal.

You see it at a restaurant when the food arrives at a table and the customer doesn’t like the way the hamburger is cooked.

In basketball, someone gets fouled going to the hoop and they whine.

Someone doesn’t get the pass from a teammate because they are wide open, they wine.

A soccer player doesn’t get the playing time they think they deserve, they whine.

And then you have the parents, their kid doesn’t play as much as they want, they whine.

Some whine more than others. Some louder than others.

Try and stomp out the whining.
