ROUNDTABLE

While watching ESPN this morning two things came to mind.  1-this coming Sunday ESPN will have their ‘Sunday Conversation’ with Bob Knight, Bill Parcells and Tony LaRussa; a must see for all.  2-It has come to my attention that Dick Vitale was once again nominated for the basketball hall of fame.

He missed out last year.

Here is what I don’t understand?

First off, who votes for guys to make the Hall of Fame? (I will google this)

Last year Bob Hurley and Vitale were both nominated – both missed out.  This year Vitale will try again but, Hurley wasn’t nominated!

This is a crime.

Bob Hurley is one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports.

How can he not be recognized by the basketball Hall of Fame?

All one has to do is read the book written by Adrian Wojnarowski ‘The Miracle of Saint Anthony’.

Head to wikipedia’s page on Hurley to learn more about him.

Hurley is not one to get on his soap box and annoucne to everyone how good of a coach he is.  He will not look for the highest paying coaching job or brag about how many wins he has or how many players he has sent on to D-1 schools.  He will not seek out television announcers and brag about his state championships. (23 of them).

Think about that; 23 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Hopefully someone does the right thing and recognizes what Coach Hurley has contributed to the game.

  1. Coach Hurley is such a great guy on top of being such a great HALL OF FAME worthy coach. I went to a practice of his last year and going into it I had no idea what to expect from him…me being a young coach going into this legendary coach’s practice. I cannot tell you how helpful and humble Coach Hurley was…

I cannot believe this has happened really.

    Vick,

Thanks for stopping. All coaches should take a trip to see Coach Hurley at practice. The guy is the best.

The NCAA games have been great. Greatest time of the year in sports.
