PERSONAL TRAINER

I was watching HBO’s Real Sports last night and they had a feature on a personal trainer for Quarterbacks.  Steve Clarkson, who charges a lot of money to tutor young kids,  was an outstanding QB at San Jose State.  Here’s an article on him compliments of SI.com

Here is Clarkson’s comments on an 11 year – old pupil.

“This kid is on his way to being the greatest high school recruited quarterback ever,” says Clarkson, who has been training Sills for the past two years. “He is really going to be something special.”

WOW!

That’s a serious tag to put on an 11 year-old, no?

45-1-9, pretty good record for a coach huh?  Well the guy got fired.  Bill Ordine of the Baltimore Sun tells us why.

  1. The article was interesting considering I played high school football under Clarkson. We were a good team, dam good. Clarkson now and then continues to make a special contribution with his acute knowledge of the game.

  2. CJ,

Thanks for stopping and making a contribution. I think it’s a great idea that someone like Clarkson is helping kids. We need more trainers…

  3. Hello Mr. Clarkson

My name is Lloyd Nelson and I am a former Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Quarterback 78′-82′. I am very interested in coaching young athletes interested in developing their skills at the quarteback position. I have two small businesses, Open Air Sports and MDSAQ Multi-Directional Speed, Agility & Quickness that focus on football camps and training young athletes to improve their balance, coordination, speed, agility and body mechanics and quickness. I am very interested in speaking with you in hopes of furthering my efforts to provide top quality instruction to young athletes about the quarterback position.

  5. I read the articles written on Steve Clarkson & AIR 7. Visit http://www.quarterbackcombine.com and review the work these coaches do to get the athlete “GAME READY”. The Head Quarterbacks Coach, Jio Lucci is a phenomonal quarterbacks coach and his staff is excellent. The athletes that were coached under Lucci all received Division 1 college scholarships and those who were still in HS started.
